Man caught with loaded gun in Morvant

A Morvant man was scheduled to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Monday after he was held with a loaded firearm during a police exercise that morning.

According to police reports the exercise was conducted in the Morvant community between 1:00 am and 7:00 am Monday and was supervised by Snr Sup Sagramsingh, with assistance from ASP Sooker and Sgt Guelmo, among several others.

The officers, acting on information received, had cause to search a man from Mapping Lands, Morvant.

The suspect was allegedly held with 9mm pistol loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.

As a result, he was arrested and taken into custody.

Enterprise man held with gun, ammo, cocaine

In a separate incident, an Enterprise man was held with a pistol and quantities of ammunition and cocaine on Sunday. 

According to police reports, around 1:30 am Sunday, officers of the Central Division Operations Unit observed the 69-year-old man standing along Enterprise Street, Enterprise, "acting in a suspicious manner", while on mobile patrol. 

Officers, acting under the supervision of Sgt. Gerard John proceeded to conduct a search, during which they found one Smith and Wesson pistol, 21 rounds of 9mm ammunition and a quantity of cocaine, in the man’s possession.

The man was arrested and is due to appear in court soon to answer the charges.
