Man charged in murder of ex-lover
A 36-year-old taxi driver has been charged with the January 2, 2018 murder of his former common-law wife, Arisa Vana David.
Joseph Bryan Bennett, 36, a taxi driver of Chase Village, Chaguanas, is expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, charged with David’s murder following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul, on Sunday.
David, 25, also of Chase Village, Chaguanas, was found dead in the bedroom of her home, around 8:30 am by her daughters - ages eight and three.
The victim had been in an altercation with a man the day before, during which he allegedly threatened to kill her.
An autopsy revealed the deceased died as a result of strangulation. Investigations were led by Insp. (Ag.), Allister Jones and Sgt. Hemraj Sirju, of Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3, while, Bennett was charged by Cpl Steven Forbes today.
