Man charged for sexual assault of daughter, 12

A 35-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting his 12-year-old daughter.

The accused faces five offences for sexual penetration against the minor which reportedly took place on two occasions over the past 18 months.

The victim recently found the courage to speak on the issue and told relatives that, on both occasions, her father was allegedly drunk.

A report was made to the police and officers from the Child Protection Unit were notified.

The suspect was made aware of the investigations and, in the presence of his attorney, he surrendered to police on Sunday.

WPC Hull is the complainant (charging officer) in this matter.

More on this as it becomes available.
