Man in court for kidnapping ex-common-law wife
One man was expected to appear in court on Tuesday for charges of kidnapping his ex-common-law wife.
On Saturday at around 10.10 am 38-year-old Jerlene Oliver was in the vicinity of the 6th Company Church when she was confronted by her ex-common-law husband Marvin Trotman.
Both Oliver and Trotman are residents of the 6th Company Hindustan area.
The ex-husband allegedly held on to her right arm, snatched her by the neck and took her against her will into his silver Nissan b14.
Oliver reported that whilst she was in his vehicle, she made several attempts to escape however he locked the doors, took her to his home and pulled her inside the house.
PC Basdeo and other officers responded to the scene of the altercation and received information which led them to the home of Marvin Trotman.
There the officers searched the house and found the victim there with minor injuries.
Marvin Trotman was arrested and taken to the police station, while the victim was accompanied to the Princes Town District Health Facility to seek medical attention.
Trotman was expected to appear before the Princes Town 1st Magistrate Court on Tuesday
