Man dead, officers injured after confrontation in San Raphael

A confrontation with police on Sunday morning has left a San Raphael man dead and two police officers injured.

The deceased has been identified as Alyster Pierre.

According to police reports, around 3 am officers of the Northern Division received a report of domestic violence at Brazilone Trace, San Raphael.

When the officers responded, they were confronted by a man known to them.

Police said, the man was a drug offender and there is a warrant out on him for allegations of malicious wounding.

He had been previously linked to allegations of housebreaking, larceny, robbery, and even sexual offences.

The officers said they tried to detain Pierre when he allegedly attacked them.

One of the lawmen suffered a broken arm during the attack.

During the confrontation, the officers retaliated by drawing their licensed firearms and shot at the suspect, hitting him several times.

The wounded man was rushed for medical treatment, however, he succumbed to his injuries.
