Man dubbed 'priority offender' evades cops, drops pistol during chase

One firearm and ammunition were found by officers of the Northern Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Tunapuna district on Tuesday.

A statement from the police service notes that between 8 am and 10 am, a foot patrol exercise was conducted in First Trace, Tunapuna, in search of a priority offender.

The officers reportedly approached the suspect to search him. However, the man ran off, dropping a green coloured pistol outfitted with a selector and ten rounds of 9mm ammunition from his waist.

A chase ensued but the suspect was able to evade the officers. 

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt David, supported by ASP Gyan, Insp Pitt, co-ordinated by Sgt La Pierre, Cpl Forde and PCs Gooding and Carrington.
