A San Fernando man is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on Wednesday, charged with stealing two bus batteries from a Public Transport Service Corporation compound in San Fernando on Monday.
Thirty-seven-year-old Robert Thorpe, a labourer of Hubert Rance Street was arrested by officers of the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department (CID), following a report of larceny from the PTSC Operations Building, at King’s Wharf, San Fernando.
A manager employed with PTSC reported to police that he last observed the two batteries at his work place around 1:50pm on Monday and went away.
He said when he returned around 2:50pm, on the same date, he observed the two batteries missing.
A report was immediately made to the police and an investigation launched.
Based on information received, officers subsequently arrested the accused a short distance away, however, the two batteries were not recovered.
Thorpe was charged by PC Yeshraj Khemraj, attached to San Fernando CID on Tuesday.
