Man faces multiple charges including rape and child sex crimes

A 43-year-old Tacarigua man was among eight people arrested in the Northern Division during anti-crime exercises conducted between 3 pm on Wednesday and 2 am on Thursday.

The man of Dinsley, Tacarigua, was taken into custody for outstanding warrants, robbery with aggravation, larceny, grievous sexual assault, kidnapping, fraud and sex with a minor.

The other seven were arrested for various crimes.

During the exercise, the officers issued 14 Fixed Penalty Notices, conducted 65 Field Interviews and found and seized 48 rounds of 12 gauge ammunition in a bushy area in the Wallerfield district.

No one was arrested in connection with the seized ammunition.

The exercises were coordinated by Assistant Commissioner Jacob and were spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Daniel.

It included Sgt Williams, Cpl Liverpool and a party of officers attached to the St Joseph Traffic Unit and the Driving Under the Influence Speed Unit, La Horquetta Police Station, Arima Criminal Investigations Department and Crime Patrol Unit.

Investigations are continuing.
