Man fined $3,000 for stealing weed whackers, speakers

A 26-year-old man was fined $3,000 or forced to face a default of six months of hard labour after he pleaded guilty to allegations of larceny.

The accused, Aaron Francis, of Tobago Road, Enterprise, appeared before Magistrate Jo-anne Connor in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court.

He was arrested around 3:00 am on Wednesday, at Hillcrest Gardens, San Fernando, while removing items from a vehicle which was parked along the roadway.

The items, including weed whackers, speakers and amplifiers, were said to have a cumulative value of $17,500.

Francis was arrested and charged by WPC Nola Valdez David.

Another man who was at the scene at the time managed to flee the scene and has yet to be held.

After submissions to the court, in which Francis apologized for his actions, he was fined.
