Man found dead in Claxton Bay

Police are continuing investigations after a 31-year-old man was shot and killed in Claxton Bay on Sunday afternoon.

According to police reports, the deceased was identified as Akim Patrick McDonald, of Old Trainline, St Margaret’s.

Police said they received an anonymous call around 2.00 pm on Sunday, saying that a man had been shot dead in front of the Union Claxton Bay Secondary School near the Southern Main Road, Claxton Bay.

A team of officers led by Sup Nobby, Insp Nanan, Insp Figaro, Sgt Williams, Sgt Elvin, Cpl Dickie, PC Beharry, PC Rahim, and WPC Dyer Baptiste, among others, responded.

When the officers arrived, they found the body of a man lying motionless on his stomach along the roadway.

He appeared to have been shot.

The body was viewed by District Medical Officer Dr Manduru and removed from the scene.

Police said a post mortem was scheduled to take place on Monday at the Forensic Science Center in St James.
