Man on drug and gun possession charges offered $250K bail
A 43-year-old man has been granted bail in the sum of $250,000 on allegations of firearm possession, and drugs possession.
Shawn Shahani, appeared on Friday before a Port of Spain Magistrate.
He was represented by attorney Larry Williams while the State was represented by Inspector Mohammed. PC Mc Clean was the charging officer. After the charge was read, bail was given by the courts.
Shahani was also granted a cash alternative of $25,000 to cover all charges.
He was held by officers of the Western Division Task Force (WDTF) on Thursday morning.
The officers executed a search warrant at the West Hills Development, Morne Coco Road, Petit Valley, upon completion of the search, the officers found and seized, inside a pouch of a computer tower, a Taurus .45 pistol, 45 rounds of ammunition inside a Nike sock and a black plastic bag containing 112 grammes of cocaine.
This operation was coordinated by Senior Supt (Ag) Thompson, Snr Supt (Ag) Pamponette and ASP Operations Henry and supervised by ASP Coggins, Sgt Carmona, Cpl (Ag) Edwards and included PCs Mc Clean, Gilkes, Murray, Robinson, Roberts, Rogers, Genty, Peltiet and WPC Primus. Also, a part of the operation was PC Ramoutar and Bailey of the Canine Branch.
