Man held, guns and drugs found in South Western Division

An anti-crime exercise carried out in the South Western Division between Friday and Saturday saw one man arrested and four firearms, ammunition and drugs seized.

48-year-old Anderson Peter Gittens of Jackson Trace, Buenos Ayres, was arrested and charged on Friday.

Police reportedly saw the man acting suspiciously and carried out a search.

They found a mod10-5 revolver and 6/.38spl ammunitions tucked into the right side of the waist.

The suspect is expected to appear at the Point Fortin Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 2018.

Officers also proceeded to Walker Street, New Village, Pt Fortin to execute a warrant on a suspect who ran when he saw police.

During his escape, he dropped a plastic bag which contained one black metal and plastic object with the markings Astra a60 pistol, and one magazine containing 6/.380 ammunitions, which was seized.

Another warrant is to be issued for his arrest.

Meanwhile, acting on information, officers went to a forested area at Mc Donald Trace, Bamboo Village, Cedros to carry out a search.

There they found a white crocus bag containing a wooden and metal object resembling a homemade shotgun under some bushes.

They also proceeded to a bushy area at Los Iros Road, Erin on Saturday, where checks were made and one Winchester 12 gauge shotgun was found.

During the exercise officers also found 808 grammes of marijuana in another bushy area at Salazar Trace, Point Fortin.
