Man injured after Gasparillo shooting

A 23-year-old man is nursing gunshot injuries following a shooting incident in Gasparillo.

The victim, Alex Rahim, of Parforce Road, Gasparillo, told police that at about 7.15 pm on Saturday, he was liming with a group of friends at a house along Johnson St, Gasparillo, when they were approached by two men.

Both men were said to be armed with firearms.

They approached the group and without warning, shot at the friends.

In the aftermath, Rhamin was struck in his right leg.

The assailants then fled the scene on foot.

The police and emergency health services were notified and the wounded man was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital.

A team of officers led by Sgt Maharaj visited the scene.

Three spent 9mm shells were recovered by crime scene officers.

Investigations are continuing.
