Man kidnapped, robbed after stopping to check vehicle

A manhunt has been launched for two suspects after a 33-year-old man who stopped his car to check on his vehicle was assaulted, kidnapped, and robbed.

The victim told police that around 7:30 pm on Saturday he was driving a silver Hyundai Matrix along the Exchange Road, Couva when he began to experience difficulty with the car’s horn.

He stopped and exited the vehicle and had his head facing down inside the bonnet in an attempt to fix it.

Police were told that the next thing he knew, he was being attacked and bundled into the back seat of his car by two men.

The victim passed out and awoke sometime after, finding himself in a drain in Freeport.

His vehicle was missing.

The 33-year-old suffered bruises and soft tissue injuries, but he did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

WPC Corban is continuing inquiries.
