Man killed in PBR accident
An unidentified man was killed in a road traffic accident along the Priority Bus Route on Wednesday.
This is the eleventh road fatality for the year, representing a 120 percent increase as there were only five such reports for the same period in 2019.
The incident took place around 3.15 pm on Wednesday.
Police were told that a 25 seater maxi-taxi was heading east direction along the bus route when it came into contact with a grey Ford Ranger van which was attempting to turn into the VMCOTT compound.
This led the maxi to then impact with a 15-seater maxi which was proceeding in the opposite direction.
A man who was seated to the back seat of the 15-seater vehicle sustained severe head injuries and died on the scene.
His body was viewed by DMO Dr Balkaran and ordered removed from the scene
Police said the deceased was a man of East Indian descent, with short greying hair, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and roughly 160 lbs, was clad in a light coloured flowered shirt and long blue jeans with brown casual shoes.
Three persons were taken for medical treatment, however, their injuries were not said to be serious.
The scene was visited by w-Sgt Weekes, Cpl Aguilera, PC Gervais, and several others.
Officers from the San Juan fire station, led by FF Ali and FF Baksh, also visited the scene.
