Man sent to St Ann's for analysis after threatening to bomb Chaguanas

A Williamsville man appeared before the San Fernando Magistrates' Court on Thursday, charged with creating a hoax involving noxious substances, explosives and other lethal devices contrary to Section 21 (2) of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The accused was arrested on November 25, 2019, by PC Calliste of the Special Branch.

The charge was laid following investigations into a telephone call placed to the Police Command Centre on October 31, 2019, where a threat was made to “blow up people in Chaguanas”.

Following the investigation, advice was sought from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, who gave instructions to
lay the charge.

Magistrate Lisa Singh-Phillip remanded the accused into custody and ordered that he be sent to St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital for evaluation.
