Man sentenced to 16 months hard labour for larceny trick
A 36-year-old man accused of fraudulently obtaining $30,500 was sentenced to 16 months hard labour when he appeared before a San Fernando Magistrate charged with larceny trick.
Marlon Des Vignes also known was Darren Alexander of Aripero Village, South Oropouche and also of New Grant, Princes Town appeared before Magistrate Natalie Hamilton-Diop in the San Fernando Magistrate Court on Thursday to answer the charge.
Des Vignes allegedly obtained the sum of $13,000 from a female victim as part payment for the sale of a Nissan Tiida sometime between March 2 and March 5.
He is also said to have collected $17,500 from a male victim between May 12 and June 8 for the same purpose. However, he was not in a position to deliver said vehicles
The victims reported the matter to the Fraud Squad and an investigation was launched.
He was arrested in the Barataria district on June 21.
He was arrested and charged by WPC Euphemia Huggins on Wednesday.
