Man seriously hurt after allegedly jumping off flyover

A 21-year-old man is warded in a critical condition at the Port of Spain General Hospital after he allegedly jumped off flyover along the Beetham Highway.

The victim, who is from Calcutta Road, Freeport, was in a vehicle with his mother, when around 1 pm on approaching the flyover, the 21-year-old asked for his mother to pull over.

The woman did so, and the 21-year-old reportedly ran out of the car, onto the flyover, before throwing himself over.

He landed on a Nissan Tiida which was being driven along the Eastern Main Road at the time.

The driver of the car, had three passengers.

None of the occupants were hurt, police said.

However, the injured man was rushed for medical treatment.

A team of officers led by Cpl Viechweg, and including PC Edgar, PC Raghoonanan, and PC McMillian, visited the scene.
