Man shot and killed in Arima
Just over a week into the new year, the country's murder toll continues to rise with the shooting death of 32-year-old Ashton Torres.
According to reports, residents of Manhattan Drive, Maturita, heard several loud explosions at about 8.30 am Sunday morning.
Upon investigating, they found Torres lying on the ground in a pool of blood, while a silver car was seen speeding away from the scene.
Torres was bleeding from a gunshot wound to his chest.
The police and emergency health services were notified and the wounded man was rushed for medical treatment.
Unfortunately, within the hour he succumbed to his injuries.
Police remained at the scene until midday Sunday.
This brings the country's murder toll to 12.
