Man shot and killed in Siparia

Police are investigating the death of a 58-year-old man, who was shot and killed in Siparia on Monday morning. 

The deceased has been identified as Ramchan Simboo, of St John’s Avocat Village.

He was said to be a truck driver.

According to police reports, at about 5.30 am Monday morning, workers at Ramdath Singh Contractors at Thicke Village heard several loud explosions.

They then observed a silver Nissan Tiida speeding away from the scene.

Simboo was found bleeding from multiple gunshot injuries on the roadway.

He died at the scene.

The police responded and a search was conducted for the killers.

However, up to midday Monday, they were yet to be apprehended.

Body found in Laventille

In a separate incident, the death of a man in Laventille whose body was found on Monday morning is currently engaging the attention of police.

The body was said to have been found near the fort at Picton Road, Laventille at about 10:00 am Monday.

A district medical officer was contacted and is expected to review the body, which has sustained injuries which is believed to have led to the fatality.

However, police are not certain if there was any foul play, and as such an autopsy has been ordered to confirm the cause of death – once the deceased is identified.
