Man shot in broad daylight in Claxton Bay
A 24-year-old man is warded at the San Fernando General Hospital in a serious condition following a shooting incident on Monday morning in Claxton Bay.
According to police reports, at about 10:30 am on Monday, the victim was standing in the yard of his home along Springvale Road, Claxton Bay when he observed a silver Nissan motor vehicle driving along the roadway.
The driver, police said, as well as the passenger, were known to the victim.
Without warning, the passenger exited the vehicle with a firearm and walked towards the 24-year-old man.
Fearful for his life, the victim attempted to flee the scene, however, he felt an intense burning sensation to his left thigh and fell to the ground.
The assailants then fled the scene.
The police and emergency health services were notified and the wounded man was rushed for medical treatment. The injury, police were told, was serious, however, there were both entry and exit wounds, leading officials to note that the bullet was not lodged in the victim.
