Man shot dead during robbery

A 20-year-old man is dead following a shooting incident in Chickland Village last night. The deceased has been identified as Charran Singh. 

Singh, sources told LoopTT, was the relative of a retired superintendent of police. 

According to initial reports, it was said that Singh was fatally shot at about 9.30pm during what police have described as a robbery. 

Police said that a group of men had confronted the 20-year-old while he was near his car, demanding that he hand over the keys. 

There was said to be a confrontation following which, several loud explosions were heard. 

The assailants then fled in a stolen vehicle, while Singh was found bleeding from three wounds. 

The police and paramedics were notified, however, Singh succumbed to his injuries.
