The victim, Arnold Samuel, 27, from Bon Air Gardens, Arouca, is said to be warded in a serious condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.
Police were told that around 10:30 am on Friday, Samuel and his uncle went to Harris Promenade to arrange the purchase of a Nissan Tiida with two people they met on Facebook
The pair had $27,000 in cash on them.
Upon meeting the supposed sellers, however, Samuel and his uncle were attacked by the men, who turned out to be armed robbers.
Samuel was shot in his face during the altercation.
The suspects then ran through Paradise Cemetery and escaped in a gold-coloured vehicle.
The bandits stole a watch and other valuables but reportedly did not manage to steal the $27,000.
Police, led by Snr Sup Mohammed, responded immediately but they were not able to hold the suspects.
