Man shot by unknown assailants in D'Abadie

A 31-year-old man is nursing gunshot injuries following a shooting incident in D’Abadie.

The victim told police that at about 5:30 pm on Thursday, he was standing in the vicinity of D&N Café along Mahabir Lane, D’Abadie, when he was approached by two men unknown to him.

One of the men pulled out a firearm and, without warning, shot at the 31-year-old.

The victim attempted to flee the scene but he was pursued.

He managed to seek refuge in a nearby house, and upon coming to a stop, he felt burning sensations to his left leg and realised he had been shot twice.

The police and paramedics were notified and the injured man was rushed to the Arima District Health Facility where he is said to be warded in a stable condition.

Police who visited the scene of the shooting recovered six spent shells.

Investigations are ongoing and arrests are said to be imminent.
