Man stabbed in the neck, rescued by neighbours

If not for the intervention of residents of Ste Madeline, a 42-year-old man may have bled to death after he was found with a stab wound to the neck on Sunday morning.

As it currently stands, Matthew Rooplal, a labourer of Corquette Street, Ste Madeline, is currently warded in a critical condition at the San Fernando General Hospital, having suffered a stab wound to his neck.

According to police reports, at about 5:00 am on Sunday, residents of Corquette Street, were walking along the roadway when they observed Rooplal on the ground bleeding from an injury to the left side of his neck.

The police and emergency health services were notified, and the wounded man was rushed to the hospital.

PC Soogrim and WPC Buntin visited the scene, however, they found no leads.

The victim, when he was quickly questioned, was unable to say how he came about the injury.

Sgt Prescott is continuing inquiries.
