Man succumbs to injuries after Cocorite shooting

The man who was shot in broad daylight yesterday along the Western Main Road, Cocorite, has succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was identified as Barry Simeon, 23, of Cocorite.

He was shot at 10.50 am Thursday while driving his blue Nissan Note along the Western Main Road, in the vicinity of Sea View Terrace.

Another car rammed into his car, and police were told two gunmen opened fire on Simeon’s vehicle – hitting him several times.

The assailants then drove off.

Simeon was taken to St James Medical Complex where he was treated.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at about 8.30 pm on Thursday.

An autopsy has been ordered and is expected to take place at the Forensic Science Center in St James.
