Man wanted for firearm-related offences held in Tunapuna

A shooting suspect was detained while an automatic weapon and a quantity of ammunition was seized by officers of the Northern Division during an anti-crime exercise in the Tunapuna district on Monday.

Officers were on mobile patrol around 1 am when they responded to a report of a shooting in progress at Bamboo Trace, Tunapuna.

Upon arrival, the officers acted on information and proceeded to a bushy area in the vicinity of Romeo Drive, off Bamboo Trace. 

They conducted a search and found an automatic weapon and seven rounds of ammunition.

The officers then reportedly observed a man who fit the description of the suspect, standing along the roadway with other individuals. They arrested the suspect after informing him that he was wanted in connection with firearm-related offences. He was subsequently taken to the Tunapuna Police Station.

Investigations are ongoing.
