Marabella businessman beaten, robbed outside bank

Marabella police are investigating a report that a businessman was beaten and robbed outside of his establishment on Monday afternoon.

According to police reports, at about 1.30 pm on Monday, the businessman had just stepped out of his convenience store in Marabella with a bag which contained an estimated $63,000.

The money, police were told, represented sales over a four day period.

However, as he exited his establishment, he was accosted by an armed man.

He was beaten about the body, following which the assailant grabbed the bag and made good his escape.

The police were notified and a report was made to the Marabella Police Station.

Searches were conducted immediately for the suspect, however, he was not found.

Despite this, police are expected to review CCTV footage from cameras in the area with the aim of identifying the suspect.
