Marabella man held after attacking police officer with broken glass

Police have detained a 52-tear-old Marabella man after he allegedly hit a police officer in the neck with a piece of broken glass.

According to updates from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the man attacked an officer attached to the Marabella Police Station during an anti-crime exercise on August 18.

Police said they were on patrol when they responded to a report an intruder at a Gopaul Lands, Marabella, around 10:45 am on Saturday.

Upon approaching the suspect a Police Constable (PC) was struck in his neck by the suspect with a piece of broken glass.

A struggle ensued and the suspect was subdued with the assistance of another PC and taken to the Marabella Police Station, pending charges.

The officer, who was injured in the altercation, received medical treatment for his injury.
