Maracas fisherman charged with sexually assaulting three girls

A 30-year-old fisherman will appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate on Friday after being arrested by Child Protection Unit (CPU) officers for the alleged sexual assaults of three female minors.
The suspect of Grandford Village, Maracas Village, Maracas Bay was arrested on Wednesday by PC Castle of the North-Eastern Division CPU following investigations surrounding the alleged assaults of three female minors, aged 12, 13, and 17 over a period of four years.
North-Eastern CPU officers were alerted to the incident by the 13-year-old victim who reported to police that she had been sexually assaulted by her stepfather.
Lead investigator PC Castle launched enquires into the victim’s account which led to the discovery of the other victims.
According to the victims, the accused reportedly offered money to all three girls to perform a series of sexual acts.
He was subsequently slapped with the following charges: four counts of procuring himself sexual services of a child, one count indecent assault and one count sexual touching.
The investigation was spearheaded by W/Supt (Ag) George, ASP Nowbutt, and supervised by Insp (Ag) Davidson.
