Marijuana activist granted bail after court appearance

Nazma Muller has been granted bail at $300,000 to cover charges of marijuana possession and cultivation of marijuana.
The 47-year-old activist appeared yesterday before an Arima Magistrate after she was held with an estimated 435 grammes of marijuana at her home.
After the charges were read against her, submissions were heard in the court, following which bail was granted, and the matter was adjourned to October 8.
She was held at about 5:30pm on Wednesday at her home where the drugs, a quantity of seedlings, dried/cured marijuana and a scale were seized.
Police said that officers from the Arouca police station, led by Sgt Singh conducted an operation which led them her home at Second Street East, Trinicity.
A search was conducted and the drugs were found and seized. As a result of the find, she was arrested and charged.
Police are once again reminding citizens that under current legislation in this country, persons are only allowed to have in their possession up to 30 grammes of marijuana, and up to four marijuana plants.
