Marlene falls ill
Port of Spain South MP Marlene McDonald has fallen ill.
Communications Minister Donna Cox in response to a Whatsapp message, confirmed that McDonald was taken to the St Clair Medical Centre on Monday morning after complaining of feeling unwell.
Her attorney, Pamela Elder SC has also confirmed that the former Minister is currently warded.
McDonald along with four others are due in court today to answer corruption charges.
However, her court appearance has now been delayed.
According to a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC gave advice late last night to charge Mc Donald, her partner Michael Carew, Victor McEachrane, Wayne Anthony and Edgar Zephrine.
The TTPS said they are all being charged with several offences of conspiracy to defraud the Government, and offences of money laundering.
However, McDonald will face offences of misbehaviour in public office.
This a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
