Martinique records third coronavirus case
Martinique now has three confirmed coronavirus cases as the French island’s health agency states a new case is under management.
The Regional Health Agency of Martinique confirmed the new coronavirus patient was taken care of overnight (March 9-10) at the University Hospital of Martinique.
The patient is a 51-year-old woman, originally from the town of Trinite.
She lives with her husband and son.
It says her state of health at this time is not worrying and she remains in solitary confinement.
Giving some background into her travel history, the Health Agency says she has been visiting l’Hexagone France since December 23, 2019 and stated that during her visit on February 23, 2020 in a commune of Mulhouse, she came in contact with a person placed in isolation following contact with a confirmed case.
The woman then returned to Martinique on March 1 when she began exhibiting symptoms.
She is being taken care of along with her family members.
Meanwhile, the Regional Health Agency says the first two diagnosed coronavirus patients in Martinique remain in isolation and their state of health is not worrying.
Last week on March 3, five coronavirus cases were confirmed in French Guiana.
Those persons had also travelled to Mulhouse during the period of February 17-24.
