Martinique records two confirmed cases of coronavirus

The French Caribbean island of Martinique on Thursday, March 5, 2020, confirmed two cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections.

According to reports out of the French territory, confirmation of the virus was made by the Martinique University Hospital late Thursday afternoon.

These two cases are being managed by SAMU (Aervice d’aide Médicale Urgente) on the French island along procedures implemented by the authorities.

This is not the first recorded case in the Caribbean.

Last week, there were two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in French St. Martin, five in French Guiana and one in St. Barthélemy.

Globally there have been 98, 293 confirmed cases with over 3,356 deaths.
