A massive police operation is underway following the abduction of a family of four from their home in Penal on Saturday.

Investigators say 28-year-old Aaron Sooknanan, his Venezuelan-born wife Paula Sooknanan and their two children; 5-year-old Ricardo and 3-year-old Isabella were forcibly taken from their home by masked men.

Relatives of the missing family made a report to the Penal Police Station earlier today, after they discovered the family missing.

Officers visited the home and found that it had been broken into and ransacked.

All resources are being used to locate the missing family, supported and coordinated by the National Command Centre.

Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith is leading officers attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKU), Special Operations Response Team (SORT), Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB) and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) in the effort to locate the family.
