Maxi-taxi bandits strike again
St Joseph police are investigating yet another report in which a maxi-taxi was robbed.
This time, the incident reportedly took place on Tuesday night in the vicinity of Carib Brewery.
According to police reports, at about 9:00 pm on Tuesday, a maxi-taxi was proceeding in a westerly direction along the Priority Bus Route, when upon reaching the vicinity of the brewery one of the passengers signalled for the vehicle to stop.
It was then that one of the “passengers” pulled out a firearm and announced a hold-up.
He then proceeded to rob the taxi-driver, as well as two other passengers, of their cash and valuables.
The man then exited the taxi and ran in a northerly direction towards Mt D’or community.
The victims then made a report to police, and investigators have since secured CCTV footage from businesses and homes in the area.
An arrest is said to be imminent.
Just a few days earlier, a maxi-taxi driver and passengers were robbed by an armed man posing as a passenger near Arouca.
In a separate incident, another maxi-taxi was robbed by a passenger while driving along the Priority Bus Route in June.
More on this as it becomes available.
