Almost a year after suffering a stroke and undergoing treatment and recovery, Minister in the Ministry of Public Administration, Maxie Cuffie, is back in Trinidad and Tobago.

Cuffie's flight arrived at the Piarco International Airport around 10.20 pm Thursday night.

On his arrival, he was greeted by Labour Minister Jennifer Baptiste-Primus.

Photos shared on Facebook from the official account of the People's National Movement (PNM) show Cuffie being supported by Baptiste-Primus as he exited the aircraft.

He was accompanied by his wife, Hermia Tyson-Cuffie.

Speaking with LoopTT via telephone, the Minister expressed his thankfulness to be alive and credited God for his recovery.

"I am doing well by the grace of God," he said.

"God has guided me to a full recovery."

Cuffie said he was happy to return to the comfort of his home and be surrounded by family.

"I am happy to be back to be home with my wife."

Asked when he would return to work, Cuffie said he had no specific date or timeframe as he would first have to have a conversation with the Prime Minister concerning his return.

He has every intention, however, to return to his duties as a government minister.

Meanwhile, Cuffie plans to continue working as MP for La Horquetta/Talparo.

"I never stopped being MP. My staff was working on behalf in my absence. They were in constant communication with me."
