Mayaro woman held with 1.4 kilos of marijuana

Police are once again reminding citizens that under current laws in this country, persons are only allowed to have in their possession up to 30 grammes of marijuana, and up to four marijuana plants.

This reminder comes after a 25-year-old woman held with 1.4 kilograms of marijuana in Mayaro yesterday morning.

The woman, from Plaisance Road, Mayaro, is expected to be charged with possession of an illegal drug for the purposes of trafficking.

PC Narine is continuing inquiries.

She was held during a police operation in the Eastern Division which took place between 3-9 am yesterday.

It was held under the supervisions of Snr Sup Aguilal, Sgt Bhim, and Cpl Neaves.

The officers searched several homes in the community after receiving   intelligence of firearms and ammunition being hidden in the area. However, only the drugs were found.

More on this as it becomes available.
