Mechanical issues delay sailing of T&T Spirit

Damages to parts on the T&T Spirit’s Port Inner Main Engine delayed the vessel’s departure from Tobago this morning.

The Trinidad and Tobago Inter-Island Transportation Co. Ltd confirmed that the vessel, which was scheduled to depart at 6.30 am was delayed from Scarborough due to a damaged starter motor and gear ring on the Port Inner Main Engine.

The issue was discovered during start-up of the engine and the vessel did not stall during the voyage, TTIT said.

The TTIT said the damaged parts were replaced immediately and the vessel sailed at 7.25 am with 446 passengers and 140 vehicles.

The vessel took the scheduled 3 hours for the crossing and arrived in port at 10.27am.
