Met Office issues Adverse Weather Alert for Friday

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued an Adverse Weather Alert starting from Friday morning due to an approaching tropical wave.

In an update shared on Thursday afternoon, the Met Office said the showers and thunderstorms are likely to affect Trinidad and Tobago from early morning around 4:00 am until early afternoon around 2:00 pm on Friday 5th July 2019.

Citizens are warned of street and/or flash flooding, landslides/landslips.

Gusty winds of in excess of 45 kilometres per hour are also possible, the Met Office added. 

The public is warned to monitor updates from the Met Office as the system progresses.

Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to also monitor developments and to take safety precautions.
