Met Office records hottest days for the year to date

Feeling the heat? You're not alone.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Office said the two hottest days for the year so far were recorded on two days in September.

The Met Office said in a tweet that temperatures on Saturday soared to 34.3 degrees Celsius.

"Thurs 12 Sept and today, Sat 14 Sept have been the hottest days for the year thus far at Piarco, with 34.3°C on both days (Heat Index of 41°C to 43°C).

"Urban areas would have experienced temperatures higher than this, with even higher heat indexes."

Citizens are urged to keep themselves and vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and pets cool by staying inside, wearing cool comfortable clothes and drinking lots of cool liquids to stay hydrated.
