Met Office: Tropical wave to bring heavy rains, floods on Thursday
Created : 5 August 2020
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS/Met Office) is advising the public of a tropical wave that will be passing through the region on Thursday, August 6, 2020.
The Met Office said heavy showers and thunderstorms will likely affect Trinidad and Tobago as a result. The peak of activity is likely to be between the morning and early afternoon, especially for Tobago and northern parts of Trinidad.
Street or flash flooding and landslips may occur in areas that are usually susceptible. Gusty winds may also accompany heavy downpours.
Meanwhile, the TTMS said it is monitoring the possibility of significant rainfall between Saturday and Tuesday. This is due to the possibility of the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone maintaining a presence in the area.
