Met Office warns of more rough seas as Hazardous seas alert extended

Rough sea conditions are expected to continue over the next couple days, as the Met Office has extended its Hazardous Seas Alert to Wednesday.

Hazardous Seas Alert #2-Yellow Level took effect at 2:08 p.m. on Monday and ends on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

It said strong low level winds are agitating sea conditions to North and East of Trinidad and around Tobago with waves near 2.5 metres, occasionally reaching 3 metres in open waters, resulting in hazardous conditions nearshore.

Long period swells are also expected to aid in hazardous nearshore conditions during January 2.

Citizens are asked to monitor sea conditions and exercise caution in coastal waters.

They also asked to avoid entering the sea if unnecessary and be on the alert for large waves and dangerous conditions.
