Met Office warns of rough seas until Saturday

Sea conditions have been affected as rainfall and thunderstorm activity associated with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues.

In a hazardous seas alert issued on Wednesday, the T&T Meteorological Service (Met Office) warned that moderate to strong low level winds are expected to affect sea conditions with waves of 2.5 metres to three metres and occasionally higher.

Tobago is expected to experience these conditions, and to a lesser extent, eastern Trinidad.

Coastal and offshore waters of Tobago and Eastern Trinidad are expected to see the majority of the rough sea conditions.

The Hazardous Seas Alert #1 - Yellow Level is expected to end on Saturday at 2 pm.

An adverse weather alert remains in effect until Thursday night.

Sea bathers, fishermen and small craft operators are advised to carefully monitor sea conditions.

Those venturing into coastal and offshore waters are asked to exercise caution.

Persons should also be on alert for large waves and dangerous currents, and, most importantly follow the instructions of lifeguards.

The Met Office has advised citizens to monitor official news sources for updates on current weather conditions.
