Update: Met discontiues adverse weather alert - yellow level

Although there is the possibility of lingering showers and the chance of an isolated thunderstorm, the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (Met Office) says impactful weather associated with the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone has passed.

Currently, some areas in North-west Trinidad remain inundated, however this is expected to gradually subside as the evening progresses.

Members of the public are advised that severe weather linked to the passage of an Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (Met Office), the inclement weather is expected to begin at around 6am on Wednesday and end at 6pm on Thursday. 

Issuing an Adverse Weather Alert - yellow level, the Met Office said the ITCZ will affect Trinidad and Tobago with periods of showers and/or rain and isolated thunderstorms. The main impacts will include saturated soils, possibility of landslips and/or landslides in addition to gusty winds, electrical discharges, street and/or flash flooding.
