Members of the public participated in a Wellness and Information Fair called ‘Proactive Communities’ on September 2, hosted by the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA).

The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services took its services to the fair which was held at Gobin Savannah, Corner 12th Street and Don Miguel Road, San Juan.

A release from the Ministry noted that its participation was in keeping with its mandate to help, empower and transform lives in collaborative efforts with key government agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs); to provide information at the community level on accessing its various programmes and social services.

In addition to the services provided by the Ministry and several other government agencies at the outreach, residents of the community were also able to benefit from information on accessing the Ministry’s programmes and services as well as addressing queries concerning the Food Support Programme, grants administered under the Social Welfare Division and funding from the National Social Development Programme.

Patrons also benefitted from assessments conducted by the Hansen’s Disease Unit, Children’s Assessment Unit, Mental Health Screening Unit, Immunization, Cancer and Vision Screening Units; mediation services from the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts’ as well as services from the Alzheimer’s Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
