Minister Rohan Sinanan made the announcement following a visit to Sou Sou Lands, and Fishing Pond Cumuto over the weekend with WASA officials.
The Minister’s visit coincided with the continuation of paving of six kilometres of road in Sou Sou Lands, in response to pleas from residents for better road conditions for the past 32 years.
Works began December 2016 and the project is expected to be completed by April, with works continuing on a phased basis. Three drainage projects have been completed thus far.
Sinanan expressed concern that resources were not being maximised and minor road re-patches were being done following WASA operations without attention to major roads in its entirety.
While touring the North-Eastern communities, the Minister also indicated that MOWT and WASA have begun to coordinate projects to reduce the level of repetition by both organisations noting that there is still a lot of improvement to be done.
