Ministry of Works continues drainage cleaning exercise in POS

The Ministry of Works is advising that workers are continuing to clean and desilt drainage channels in Port-of-Spain in order to prevent excessive runoff during the rainy season.

Ministry personnel were reportedly on hand to capture ongoing works at five areas or drains in Beetham, Port of Spain on August 12th. They include The Cobo Drain, Hell Yard Drain, East to West Collector Drain, VMCOTT's Drainage Channel and the Black Water Channel.

The Ministry says it remains committed to its mandate to develop and maintain main watercourses and irrigation systems across Trinidad as the Division has been actively engaged in desilting works to ensure that major watercourses are cleared prior and during the rainy season.

The Trinidad and Tobago Regiment Engineering Batallion executed the clearing works while the Ministry provided excavators.
