Miss World TT 2019, Tya Jane Ramey
Only two Caribbean Queens survived the cut to advance to the second round of the 2019 Miss World Head to Head Challenge.
The first contestant to know her fate was Miss Guyana, Joylyn Conway.
The 20-year-old outshone contestants from Albania, England, Honduras, Korea and Peru to advance from Group One following a presentation of her “Beauty with a Purpose” project, which focuses on getting more girls involved in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM.)
Group Seven was won by Miss Trinidad and Tobago Tya Janè Ramey.
Ramey, who is listed as a favourite to win the competition, came from second place to gather more votes than another front-runner Miss Malaysia.
The 21-year old’s Beauty with a Purpose project focuses on helping Venezuelan refugee children access an education in T&T.
It’s the second year in a row that T&T has advanced to the second round.
Both women will have another chance to present their projects, tomorrow, before a panel of judges.
They will be paired with another delegate and the winner will advance to the top 40 on coronation night, which is December 14.
Conway is paired with Miss Mongolia while Ramey will challenge Miss Ireland.
