Mom, son and girlfriend in court on gun, ammo charges
Bail in the sum of $650,000 was set for a Claxton Bay man, his girlfriend and his mother, after they all appeared before a Couva Magistrate this week on firearm possession.
Nicholas Ramdhan, his girlfriend Jeneva Razack, and his mother Charmaine Ramdhan, all appeared on Tuesday before Senior Magistrate Siumongal Ramsaran at the Couva Magistrates’ Court.
They were all jointly charged with possession of a Glock 17 pistol, possession of 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and five grammes of marijuana.
The charges were laid by Sgt Ken Ali of the Couva CID.
Nicholas Ramdhan pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and was fined $5,000 for the offence. He has two months to pay the fine or will face a default of nine months hard labour.
However, he pleaded not guilty to the allegations of firearm and ammunition possession.
Charmaine Ramdhan and Razack pleaded not guilty to the offences they were charged with.
After submissions to the court, Ramsaran granted Nicholas bail in the sum of $350,000 with a surety, to be approved by a clerk of the peace.
Charmaine Ramdhan and Razack were granted $150,000 bail each, to be approved by a clerk of the peace.
